The MU connector is based on the most commonly used SC connector. Its connector size is about half that of the SC connector and it adopts a push-pull design. The MU connector features a pre-assembled body and precision-molded housing that is spring-held in place via a floating ferrule on the outer diameter. MU connectors generally use 1.25mm diameter sleeves and self-retaining mechanisms. Their advantage is that they can achieve high-density installation. MU connectors are also widely used, including socket-type connectors for optical cable connection (MU-A series), backplane connectors with self-retaining mechanisms (MU-B series), and for connecting LD/PD modules and plugs Simplified sockets (MU-SR series), etc. As optical fiber networks advance towards DWDM technology with larger bandwidth and larger capacity, MU connectors have also developed rapidly.
